Parent Guidelines

School Timings

Toddler’s Community (Ages 1.5 to 2.5 years)

  • The school hours for toddlers will be from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

  • Newly enrolled children will start with one hour per day for the first few days. As the child becomes more comfortable, the duration will gradually increase.

Primary Community (Ages 2.5 to 6 years)

  • Children under 4 years: School will be from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

  • Children above 4 years: School will be from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

  • Teachers may decide whether the child will stay until 2:30 PM based on the child's adjustment.

  • Drop-off: Please drop off your child between 8:45 AM and 9:00 AM. The gate will be closed by 9:05 AM for Primary children.

Sending and Receiving the Child

  • We request that one adult from the family consistently accompanies the child for drop-off and pick-up.

  • If someone new will be picking up the child, kindly inform us via email with the name and a photograph of the adult. Frequent changes in the person picking up can impact the child’s emotional adjustment.

  • Quick Goodbye: A brief and confident goodbye is recommended when leaving the child at school.

  • If you have concerns about your child’s day or behavior, please reach out through a phone call or email rather than asking the teacher directly during drop-off or pick-up.

Attendance & Holidays

  • Attendance: To support your child’s progress, we recommend maintaining at least 90% attendance. Consistency is key to their development.

  • Planned Leave: Please plan vacations during official school holidays. In case of absence, send a leave letter via email to mailtolittleflorets@gmail.com.

  • Prolonged Illness: A medical certificate is required if your child is absent due to illness for an extended period.

  • Unplanned Leave: Inform the school as soon as possible if your child will be absent unexpectedly.

Communication with Parents

  • All school announcements, including unplanned holidays, will be sent via email or the official WhatsApp group.

  • Please notify us if there are any changes in your contact details, including email ID or phone number, to ensure smooth communication.

Things to Bring to School

  • Bag: Children must bring a small bag (maximum size: 12 inches in height and 10 inches in width). Simple and small backpacks are ideal. Please avoid trolley bags or large bags that are hard to handle independently.

  • Spare Clothes: Send 3 sets of spare clothes, including underpants, a napkin, a comb, and a plastic cover for soiled clothes.

  • Food: Include a snack box (with healthy items such as fruits, dried fruits, nuts, or homemade snacks like sundal, peanut chikki, etc.) and a water bottle (without a sipper or straw).

  • Uniform: Children should wear the provided uniform t-shirt from Monday to Thursday. Casual clothes may be worn on Fridays.

  • Footwear: Comfortable, easy-to-wear footwear is essential. Flip-flops or crocs are recommended. Avoid shoes with buckles or laces that the child cannot manage independently.

Food and Special Occasions

  • Snack: Children can eat snacks throughout the day, but junk food (chocolates, biscuits, pizza, etc.) is not permitted.

  • Lunch: If the school day extends beyond 12:00 PM, a lunch box is required. Children are not allowed to share food with others. If lunch is forgotten, the child will be provided with a plate to share, but no additional lunch can be dropped off during the day.

  • Birthdays: For birthday treats, we only allow homemade snacks such as dried fruits and nuts, peanut chikkis etc.,. Please avoid treats in individual plastic packaging; eco-friendly alternatives are encouraged. Birthday gifts and party invitations should not be brought to school. We also encourage children to donate a book to the school library as an optional birthday activity.

Safety and Behavior

  • Violence: We maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy for any harmful behavior. If a child is involved in violence, they will be separated from others for a brief time, and parents will be informed. The aim is to guide the child, not punish them, and help them understand appropriate behavior.

  • Behavior Concerns: If any issues arise, we will meet with parents to discuss the child's progress and behavior. These meetings are arranged by appointment.

Technology and Screen Time

  • Zero Screen Time Policy: We do not allow screen time in school.

  • At Home Recommendations:

    • For children under 3 years, no screen time is advised.

    • For children aged 3 to 6, limit screen time to a maximum of 30 minutes per week, ensuring that the content is appropriate and non-violent.

    • Always separate screen time from meal time to help children focus on eating without distractions.

Parent-Teacher Meetings

  • Regular Parent-Teacher Meetings will be scheduled to discuss general matters.

  • If there are any specific concerns regarding your child, you may request a meeting to address them. These meetings are held by prior appointment.

  • We also conduct report meetings after each term to discuss your child’s academic and social progress.
